Before Diving In
Joel: We made it! Today is the final episode of Season 2. Whew!
Jessie: Don’t worry, Marigolds! We aren’t going anywhere but we will be taking some time to rest, rejuvenate, and reground ourselves. And we want you to be able to do the same – and catch up on the 36 episodes we have done this season!
Joel: Today is all about reflection. We will be sharing our five key takeaways from Season 2. It was such an incredible season full of actionable ways to create positive change in your professional and personal life. It was hard to choose just five but we did it with you all in mind as we celebrate this second season of the Marigold Force podcast. Welcome to today’s episode: In Conclusion: 5 Key Takeaways from Season 2.
Reflect and Celebrate
Joel: Where are the balloons? Where are the bubbles? Where is the music? I cannot believe we made it to this episode and 36 episodes this season!
Jessie: I know! I cannot believe it either! I have been going back and listening to a few episodes, and I couldn’t help but smile at all we have done – all the work we have put into this podcast to give teachers – our Marigolds – the tools they need to avoid burnout and positively thrive.
Joel: We could have really milked this episode and shared over 30 takeaways but we whittled it down to 5 key takeaways from this season.
Jessie: Before we get into those takeaways, let’s get a little reflective and celebratory. It’s so important to reflect and celebrate! So let’s get to it.
- When you think of this past school year, what are some of your most proud moments?
- When you think of this past school year, when did you have to be the most skillful? What happened?
- When you think of this past school year, when did you need your Marigolds the most? Why?
- When you think of this past school year, how did this podcast and the Marigold Force make a positive impact on your life?
- Is there anything else you want to mention or celebrate?
Jessie: Thank you, Joel! Whew! So many things happened this year! So many proud moments. So many skillful moments. So many times we were so grateful to have our Marigold Force. So many times when we created true change through action.
5 Key Takeaways From Season 2
Jessie: Let’s get to the 5 Key Takeaways from Season 2. We will share a takeaway. We will share how that takeaway showed up this past year in our lives. We will share how we used that takeaway or learned from it. And, we will share WHY we added it to the Season 2 list!
Joel: Let’s dig into them. And remember, it doesn’t have to be a big gesture. Habits are built over time through small actions that lead to big growth.
Takeaway #1:
Give yourself permission because you already have it!
Takeaway #2:
It’s okay to question yourself but don’t stop there!
Takeaway #3:
Whenever you are stuck, break it down even more. (Still stuck? Go even smaller!)
Takeaway #4:
Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries! Be clear with what you are willing to do and not do.
Takeaway #5:
It’s about being skillful and trying to get it right. (This takes time!)
Action Step
Joel: Now Marigolds, it’s time for your action step. Take a moment to pull out your journal or wherever you take notes and fill it with at least 5 things that you are celebrating this year! You can decide how you will celebrate – just make sure you do it! Take a moment to acknowledge all the beautiful, hard, intense, wonderful, challenging, and incredible things that you have done or been.
Jessie: Put pen to paper! Get specific on which strategies (or takeaways) have been the most helpful for you. Make a commitment or plan with yourself (or another Marigold!) of how you will use these strategies over the summer and into the next school year. You can use our takeaways or go back to our Season 2 episodes and decide which ones impacted your life the most.
Joel: Whatever key takeaways from Season 2 you choose, make a plan to continue to put them into action. If you are stuck, go back to your boundaries and your values. Do this reflecting, celebrating, and committing now.
